15 riders took part this evening, was a good TT evening and quite a few riders were pleased with their results with some PB's achieved.Unfortunately for Phil, he apparently had car key trouble and ended up missing the start, but went round with no number after the start closed. David's Lands End - John O'Groats ride

Hi Guys. I have decided to ride from Lands End to John O'Groats. I am travelling down on Monday 18th June and starting the ride the next day. I am looking to complete it over 14 - 15 days. Would anyone like to join me?? I am not doing this directly through a charity but have decided to raise money for the well deserved charity Children with Cancer. I am completely self funding this trip so ...all money raised will go direct to the charity. If you want donate or find out more see the link below. Anything would be greatly appreciated.
I am arranging a fund raising evening on Friday 18th May 8.00pm - 12.30, bar open 'til midnight. It is a dance night in Higham Ferrers Working Mens Club with a raffle.

Weeks 2 & 3- Events cancelled.
Cool but dry for the last of the year's Salcey series. Conditions were marginally slower than the only other completed event at Salcey this year. However,Justin Garon,Kevin Hardwick and Alistair Shed all returned P.B.s for the course. Justin was fastest Club rider only 5 seconds adrift of Liam Stones (ex 45 Road Club and course record holder). Young Charlie Berry took the Handicap Series Trophy with his much improved time in the first week.
Next week back on the Earls Barton course Start 7.45pm.

Racing - 14th - 22nd Apr 2012
Current and ex-members activities during the week 14th - 22nd AprilJustin raced at the Thames Velo Spring Road Races near Great Milton, Oxfordshire, on Sunday.
Chris Palfreeman got points with a fine 10th place in the Fleche Welwyn Road Race
Ex club member and now Team Corely rider Liam Stones won the Stan's Road Race in Telford on the 14th and placed 7th and 3rd in the bunch sprint at the Ed Taylor Memorial in Suffolk on the 22nd
Duston Triathlon - 22nd April 2012
DUSTON TRIATHLON
Two 45RC club members took part in this event, Phil Melling who placed 4th overall and Chantelle Rothe who came in at 74th, and was 5th female overall, 3rd county champ female and 1st in her age group (only 1 pic "cuz there all horrid" says Tel!) all in a field of 477 entrants...a great result for both of them.The tri consisted of: 400m Pool Swim - 20k Bike - 5k Run; One of the first triathlon events in the East Midlands and the UK, attracts both beginners and experienced triathletes. It’s also the Northants County Championships.

Last Sunday was the start of many peoples triathlon season with the Duston Triathlon which is a pool based race made up of a 400 metre swim a 20km bike and a 5km run. With all the weird weather around Phil was hoping the rain would hold off so he wouldn't get pneumonia racing the bike in a tri suit. Luckily it did and apart from being windy the conditions where fine.
On the whole his race went well with a mediocre swim (Phil's word), a solid bike ride on a really hilly course and a decent run, which was let down a bit by poor transitions (the 4th triathlon discipline). As it was a pool triathlon and started in waves of 5 athletes it was basically a time trial rather than racing other athletes so even at the finish he didn't know how he had done. He came in 4th place overall in a time of 56 min 08 sec only 11 seconds off third and 32 seconds off the winner. Phil did however win his age group (like Tel) and as the race doubled up as the Northamptonshire County Championship he was first home from the county so a successful start to his year.
